Why did the customer contact us?

The Allentown , PA homeowners contacted Jamison Basement Waterproofing after noticing persistent musty odors and high humidity levels in their home, especially near the floors and in the crawl space. Upon investigation, our team discovered a damp, mold prone crawl space that was contributing to the moisture issues in the rest of the house. The moisture was seeping up through the floorboards, causing the uncomfortable smells and compromising indoor air quality.

The homeowners wanted to address the problem before it led to mold growth, wood rot, or damage to the home’s structural integrity. After discussing their concerns with

Solutions provided:

Our Jamison team designed a solution that would address both the source of moisture and the need for better air quality in the home:
1. Crawl Space Cleanout:
• To begin, we thoroughly cleaned out the crawl space, removing any debris, dirt, and organic material. This step was essential to prevent mold growth and provide a clean surface for the moisture barrier.
2. Installation of a Moisture Barrier:
• We installed a high-quality moisture barrier across the entire crawl space floor and walls. This thick, durable liner acts as a waterproof seal, preventing moisture from the ground from seeping into the crawl space.
• The barrier was carefully sealed at the seams and edges to ensure that no moisture could penetrate and cause future problems.
3. Vapor Barrier Encapsulation:
• In addition to the floor, we encapsulated the entire crawl space with an airtight vapor barrier. This added layer of protection ensured that any moisture coming from outside the crawl space was blocked, significantly reducing humidity levels.
4. Dehumidification System:
• To further control humidity, we installed an energy-efficient dehumidification system. This system actively removes excess moisture from the air, maintaining a consistent level of dryness and preventing mold and mildew growth.

After completing the crawl space encapsulation, the homeowners experienced significant improvements in the homes air quality …
